Happy Father's Day!!

Today, I have to work. And I know that everyone that works in the food business is dreading this day.
But I, on the other had, enjoy working holidays. Not because I am away from my family, or specifically today, away from my dad. But because most of the people I am serving are in really good moods and it makes it more fun.
I like serving a table that is happy because I feel like I can connect with them more and have small talk rather than just go as far as asking how they want their steak cooked.

But anyways, I hopefully will be able to be home for dinner since I am working the day shift.
*Fingers crossed!*

So here's to my dad! A simple man that can't really be put into words. He goes by Don, Dad, Donson, Mucati Donster, (thanks Matt for that one), Don Juan, and many more.

I get my sense of humor from my dad. I also have his nose and big eyes. I have learned a lot from my dad like how to change my oil, check my tire pressure, and other little car maintenance stuff. I have learned that the only real make of a motorcycle is a Harley.
{Although I have ridden on the back of many different ones, he was right. They are still my fav.}
And I have learned how to BBQ, kinda. Still need to work on that one.

One of my favorite memories I have as a younger girl was when my dad came to watch my ballet class. He would always come to my recitals and performances, but he never really came to a class or a rehearsal. I mean come on, it was ballet. Dads just aren't into that type of thing.
And I don't know if he was really watching because he had sunglasses on, but he was sat outside watching instead of just being there afterwards to pick me up.

Thankfully for him, a few years later I picked up softball then volleyball and he was totally into that. He went to almost all of my club volleyball practices and never said no to practicing either sport with me in the front yard when he got off from work.
He even coached my sisters softball team a few times.

All in all, I have a pretty awesome dad. And one day out of the year shouldn't be dedicated to show how much he means to me. So thank you for everything dad! Enjoy your day. I love you :)

A few pictures I found today while I was cleaning out my room.
He rocked the mullet. :-p

2 Parties in One

Yesterday was obviously Super Bowl aka somewhat of an American holiday.
But in the Workman Household, we were celebrating my mom's 50th birthday too!!
Our family came over and it was a lot of fun!
We had carne asada and homemade rice and beans and enchiladas. And of course my Aunt Jeanne's DELICIOUS guacamole.
My sister made her own version of a marble cake, which turned out awesome!

One of her presents was a Bath and Body Works candle.

Cake by my sister.

Opening her card. With the game just about to start haha.

Most likely laughing at our horrible singing.

My dad just got his first iPhone. He's been really excited about it.

Puppy vision.

My mom and her best friend Robin. She is my second mother.

Photo bombed!

Tucker was loving the extra attention yesterday.

And a silly little picture. Caught it at just the right moment!

Hope everyone had a great Super Bowl Sunday!!

iPhone Diary

Well....it's been quite some time since I have regularly blogged.
Which makes me sad because I really do enjoy writing about what I have been up to.
But sadly, I can't really do much, so I don't want to write about the latest movies I've watched on Netflix.

Here are a few pictures of what has been going on:

I was a danger to the public at Target.

Parker's team won their first 2 games!

Super blurry picture of me with my grandparents, cousin, and sister.

We take pictures seriously.

Crazy buns!
My cousin, Shelby, visited for a few days. I don't get to see her very often, but when we get together, there's never a dull moment.
I think we are long lost sisters?
We look more alike than my sister and I do.

Today I went to the doctor and received great news! The surgery went perfect and my knee is exactly the way it is supposed to be. It made me so happy. I have to go back in two weeks, and then I find out when I start physical therapy. I cannot wait to get back to the gym. It's been calling my name.

Tomorrow I will start back on the normal updated blogs.
Yippeeeee!

Update

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!

I took very little pictures this year.
Because of losing my Grandma a few days before, my family didn't have presents and the normal Christmas Eve celebration.
Our celebration was about being together, and it was perfect.

I made some yummy garlic mashed potatoes, which I am going to post when I make them next.
My dad made some chicken with his homemade BBQ sauce that is called:
"Don's Not So Famous BBQ Sauce", very clever haha.
My mom made green beans and my cousins made the goodies!
My sister also  made oatmeal cookies and I made cinnamon crumb cake.
Needless to say, we were STUFFED by the end of the night!!

Christmas Day we went to my dad's side of the family.
Even more food there!
My dad made a ham, and my Uncle Dave BBQed a turkey.
My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Yesterday I had my knee surgery.
I type this as I'm in bed propped up with pillows and have my ice machine going.
So no exciting blogs for a few days!!

My surgery experience was pretty good!
I'll do a whole blog post on it when I can take pictures when I am more mobile.

Here are a few pictures:

Lazy Christmas Day Outfit.
Sweater: Lamb and Flag; Shirt: Vintage Harley
Leggings: Victoria's Secret; Shoes: Jack Purcell's
Watch: Timex Camper (stole from Parker haha)

My boy spoiled me! He knows me so well.
I'll do a separate post on what he got me

My view right now. My leg is huge because of the brace. I haven't seen it without, but I am going to check it out later. I'm kinda scared to know what's under there haha.

Happy Saturday!!

I have a new angel

I haven't blogged in over a week.
This past week has been overwhelming.
My birthday was on Sunday, so I celebrated it last Saturday with friends.
It was SO MUCH fun!!!!
{more on that later}

But this blog isn't about my birthday.
It's about losing my sweet Grandma Ruby.
On December 19, 2012, she decided it was time to go up to heaven.
I feel sorrow and sadness, but so much relief that she is out of pain.
She was in a hospital bed from April 19-December 19.
That is not a good way to live.

We all knew that she was going to be leaving us, but it still hurts.
So I am going to keep this blog short and sweet.
I plan on going through some pictures today to make copies for the rest of my family.

I have my Grandma's hands {for the most part.}
We both have boney knuckles.
I used to hate how boney my hands are at times, but now I cherish it.

Thanksgiving!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
My dad, sister, and I drove up to my Grandparents' house at 6:15 Thursday morning to "beat traffic"
{we could have waited another hour or two haha}

Then we spent all day lounging around and getting the dinner ready.
My Aunt and cousins also came, we always have a great time!
My cousin Mandy made a homemade apply pie.
I am normally not a fan of apple pie, but I tried it and it was AMAZING!!!!
The dinner was great, the company was better, which makes a perfect Thanksgiving!

Now today I am going to work on some homework, do some house work, and maybe do some baking.
{Who knows!}

Desert in the early morning light

Apple pie!

My Grandpa's latest tractor purchase. It's for sale now haha

About to dig in!

I dominated in Apples to Apples. Which never happens!

My Grandpa had a great time laughing at our stories

Cheese!

My cousin Jake spoiling Tucker

The morning after. Exhausted from all of the attention.

P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE MOST AMAZING MAN!
My boy is turning 22 today, and sadly I am in California while he is back home in Arizona.
But we are going to have our own mini celebration tomorrow night when he gets home.
I love you! :)
{such a silly picture}

'Ello Again!

I feel as though I have been busy as bee this week!

Yesterday was my Dad's birthday! He turned 51!
So on Tuesday night we told him we were going to Taco Tuesday but we took him to Lucille's for some ribs instead.
{yum!}

Then yesterday on his actual birthday, he came home from work and my mom, sister, and I cooked him dinner.
{another yum}

We were all pretty lazy yesterday so we didn't take too many pictures. But here are a few!

I made him a lemon cake!

Caught him in the middle of talking haha

I accidentally used trick candles. Oopsies

Reading the cards my sister and I made for him

Tomorrow is exactly one month until I turn 22! So I have a somewhat exciting announcement :]
